The world’s leading supplier of Service Lifts, Ladder Systems and other Safety Equipment for wind turbines, Avanti Wind Systems, has now achieved training certifications from Lloyd’s that meet the demands from the international Global Wind Organization. That means that Avanti Wind Systems now also offers complete certified safety training for technicians, who work in the turbines onshore and offshore and can be done in Avanti’s own training tower, if the customer wants it. Safe work in wind turbines has always been a top priority for Avanti – and safe work means that the safety equipment is first class. But it also means that the staff that works daily in a turbine must be properly trained and that they constantly maintain their training in moving up and down in turbine towers. The object of Global Wind Organization is to support an injury-free work environment for construction and operating of wind farms on- and offshore. To support this, GWO has developed standards for basic safety training to provide personal working at wind farms with sufficient knowledge to obtain this target. GWO is working together with most of the wind turbine manufacturers and larger wind farm owners in Europe and the US. Both trainers and training facilities must be approved by Lloyd’s to get certification from GWO. At its factory in Silkeborg, Denmark, Avanti has built a training tower. Along with the other training facilities the training tower is part of the GWO certifications. A few days ago the first team of technicians went through this training. It was a Train-the-Trainers course, where five of Avanti Wind Systems own trainers inaugurated the new facility. They are now ready to teach other technicians from around the world. Depending on the training request, a training can now be carried out either in Avanti's new training tower in Denmark - or in a wind turbine farm anywhere in the world according to the customers’ wish. However, using the training tower in Denmark avoids downtime while training is ongoing. Avanti will always follow the highest standards in the field irrespective of the country where Avanti Wind Systems is working. With these GWO certifications Avanti Wind Systems states that the company also will train and educate anyone working in wind turbines in the same high standards. The four GWO-certifications that Avanti Wind System now has achieved are Working in Heights, Fire Awareness, Manual Handling and First Aid with CPR & AED.
